Accommodation and Facilities on the UEX Cologne – Westerland (Sylt)

The UEX Cologne-Westerland-Cologne operates 1st class compartment coaches and 2nd class compartment coaches. Vehicles from the legendary “Rheingold” are used for the first class. Classic passenger coaches are used in the second class. The on-board restaurant provides for the physical well-being. In the following you will find detailed information about the respective vehicles.

The 1st class – a relaxed ride in the luxury train of the sixties

You will travel in spacious compartments of the “Rheingold”,  which in the 1960’s was used as a luxury train by politicians, business people and wealthy travellers. Enjoy plenty of legroom and comfortable, wide seats. Just relax and enjoy a very special kind of railway community experience.

These classic coaches are also used in the Urlaubs-Express car trains and are made for comfortable travel over long distances. The comfortable compartments can be booked as individual seats or as a whole compartment. Depending on the design, they are intended for a maximum of five to six people and offer plenty of space as well as enough stowage space for holiday luggage. Practical: With the fold-out large table, the compartment becomes a “living room” for the whole family.

The on-board restaurant offers breakfast and lunch (northbound) as well as coffee and cake and the three-course evening menu on trains from and to Westerland. You can choose from three different menus, one of which is vegetarian. Indulge yourself while the countryside passes by. Due to the limited space available, we recommend that you reserve your seats for breakfast, lunch and evening meal directly when you book your ticket. Please understand that we would like to offer the BordRestaurant experience to as many guests as possible and therefore serve you at lunchtime and in the evening in two-shift operation. Guests with reservations will of course be given priority by our restaurant crew when the restaurant is fully booked.
