Take the Urlaubs-Express to the Alps During the Crocus Break
Map: Winter 2026–2027

From the Netherlands straight to your winter vacation

The Crocus Break is one of the most popular times for a winter vacation in the Netherlands. With the Urlaubs-Express, the trip begins in the evening: hop on, sit back, and travel to Austria overnight.

On February 12, 2027, the UEX departs from Amsterdam Centraal and travels via Utrecht Centraal, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Eindhoven, and Venlo toward the Alps. The next morning, you’ll arrive at numerous popular winter sports destinations in Tyrol and the Salzburg region. For the second week of vacation, on February 19, 2027, we’re also offering a connection via our special UEX bus from Amsterdam and Utrecht to Münster. There, you’ll transfer directly to the Urlaubs-Express bound for Austria. Both the bus and train travel are included in the UEX ticket.

🌙 Traveling at night. In the Alps in the morning.

Board the train in the Netherlands in the evening, spend a relaxing night on board, and arrive the next morning in the heart of the Austrian mountains. As the landscape rolls by outside, your winter vacation is already underway—in the comfort of a sleeper car or couchette, and without a long drive south.

Whether it’s a family ski vacation, a few days in the snow, or a full week on the slopes: During the 2027 spring break, the Urlaubs-Express will take you directly from the Netherlands to numerous popular winter sports destinations in Tyrol and the SalzburgerLand. This way, even the trip there sets the tone for a relaxing start to your winter vacation.

Passengers in the UEX BordBistro on their way to a ski vacation

A place to meet on board: our UEX BordBistro

Your vacation begins the very evening of your departure. In our UEX BordBistro, you can wind down comfortably on the first day of your trip and look forward to the days ahead in the mountains while enjoying a drink or a snack. Meet other passengers, chat about slopes, ski resorts, and the most beautiful runs, or simply enjoy the special atmosphere of a night train journey to the Alps together.

Raise a glass, get to know each other, and enjoy the anticipation—while the Urlaubs-Express takes you to your winter vacation overnight.

Free ski compartment on the Urlaubs-Express for skis and snowboards

More space thanks to the free ski compartment

To ensure you can relax and enjoy your trip right from the start, we offer our winter sports guests a free ski compartment for skis and snowboards. This leaves more space in your own compartment for luggage and personal items.

Your winter sports equipment will be stored separately during the trip and is securely stowed away. This gives you more room to move around in the seating, reclining, or sleeping cars and makes traveling together even more enjoyable, especially for groups.
