We are looking for you to join our team as a loading assistant (m/f/d) on our domestic and international “Urlaubs-Express” car-carrying trains departing from Hamburg Central Station and Düsseldorf Central Station. Our passengers travel overnight in sleeper or couchette cars, with their cars or motorcycles “hitchhiking” on the train to various destinations both in Germany and abroad. As a loading assistant, you’ll ensure that vehicles are loaded safely and orderly onto our double-decker car carriers, secure the cars with tie-down bars, and lash down the motorcycles. After the train returns, you’ll handle the unloading.
We’re looking for you to start as soon as possible for two to four shifts per week during our two seasons: in the summer from May through October and in the winter from late December through late March.
- You’re physically fit
- You can move skillfully and safely in tight spaces and on the upper deck at a height of 2.50 meters
- You have sufficient knowledge of German to communicate effectively in your day-to-day work.
- You work carefully and won’t settle for shoddy work
- You have a basic understanding of physics and how forces work
- Sense of responsibility, reliability, ability to work as part of a team, and friendliness
- A bit of a sense of adventure—because no two shipments are alike
- Willingness to work in the dark and in bad weather
- Early shift for arriving trains on Friday and Sunday: approximately 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
- Late shift for departing trains on Wednesdays and Fridays: approximately 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Occasional train rides and assignments at the destination, such as in Munich or Lörrach.
- Employment as a “minijobber,” as well as part-time or full-time work
- A good base salary
- Attractive Bonus Policies
- We provide work clothes
- Annual Work Time Accounts Due to Our Seasonal Operations
- Longer, uninterrupted periods of free time during the off-season, when more work was done during the peak season
- Thorough training provided by our loading supervisors
- On-the-job training as a loading assistant
