The Skrouten of the Urlaubs-Express

Take the UEX night train straight to your winter vacation

With the Urlaubs-Express, your winter vacation begins the very evening you depart. As the landscape rolls by outside, you’ll travel comfortably overnight toward the Alps and arrive the next morning at some of Austria’s most popular winter sports regions. Instead of a long drive, you can start your vacation on a relaxed note—in a seating car, couchette car, or sleeper car, and on many routes (Hamburg–Munich–Hamburg), you can even bring your own car on board.

Our winter trains take you directly to key starting points for numerous ski resorts in Tyrol and the Salzburg region. Many winter sports destinations are accessible from our train stations after a short connecting trip by bus, train, or taxi. From the Arlberg through the Ötztal and the Tyrolean Alps to Zell am See, Saalfelden, and the Salzburg mountains, a wide variety of winter sports regions await you.

And that’s exactly what makes traveling on the UEX so special: board in the evening, spend the night on board, and wake up the next morning in a place where snow-capped mountains, ski slopes, and winter days await. That way, even the journey itself becomes the first part of your vacation.

Your vacation begins the very evening of your departure. In our UEX BordBistro, you can wind down comfortably on the first day of your trip and look forward to the days ahead in the mountains while enjoying a drink or a snack. Meet other passengers, chat about slopes, ski resorts, and the most beautiful runs, or simply enjoy the special atmosphere of a night train journey to the Alps together.

Raise a glass, get to know each other, and enjoy the anticipation—while the Urlaubs-Express takes you to your winter vacation overnight.

Free ski compartment on the Urlaubs-Express for skis and snowboards

More space thanks to the free ski compartment

To ensure you can relax and enjoy your trip right from the start, we offer our winter sports guests a free ski compartment for skis and snowboards. This leaves more space in your own compartment for luggage and personal items.

Your winter sports equipment will be stored separately during the trip and is securely stowed away. This gives you more room to move around in the seating, reclining, or sleeping cars and makes traveling together even more enjoyable, especially for groups.
