Urlaubs-Express Ski Train on its way to St. Anton am Arlberg

Spend the night in the Ötztal Valley—and continue on to the winter sports paradise of Sölden in the morning

Overnight Trip to the Ötztal Valley

The Gateway to the Ötztal Valley: From here, you can continue on to popular winter destinations such as Sölden, Gurgl, and Hochoetz.

The day is drawing to a close, while your journey to the Tyrolean mountains is just beginning: Take the Urlaubs-Express for a comfortable overnight ride to the Ötztal train station, the gateway to one of Austria’s most famous winter sports valleys. Instead of spending hours behind the wheel, you can sit back and kick off your winter vacation in style. The next morning, you’ll arrive in the Ötztal and be just a stone’s throw from your vacation destination. From the train station, take the public bus to Sölden and into the heart of the winter mountain landscape. Even on the way there, the mountains draw ever closer, and your anticipation for your first runs grows. In Sölden, high-alpine skiing fun awaits you, complete with modern facilities, cozy places to stop for a bite to eat, and a lively local community.

147 kilometers of slopes between the valley and the glacier

Sölden is one of Tyrol’s most famous ski resorts. With 147 kilometers of slopes, 31 lifts, and two glaciers, the resort spans an elevation range from approximately 1,350 to 3,340 meters. Wide slopes for leisurely days on the slopes are just as much a part of the experience as challenging runs and high-alpine trails for experienced winter sports enthusiasts.

A special highlight is the BIG3: Three peaks over 3,000 meters in the ski area are accessible by chairlifts and offer breathtaking views of the Ötztal Alps. In addition, there are the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers, as well as special attractions like the James Bond 007 ELEMENTS theme park on the Gaislachkogl. This means a day of skiing in Sölden can be planned differently every time.

Even off the slopes, Sölden is well-equipped to cater to winter sports enthusiasts. Restaurants, mountain huts, and numerous places to stop for a bite to eat ensure that the day doesn’t have to end after your final runs. At the same time, ski buses and public buses connect the various parts of the town and the Ötztal valley.
