Hamburg – Lörrach – Hamburg 2020

The town of Lörrach in the borderland between Germany, Switzerland, and France is one of the all-time classic motorail destinations. Located just across the frontier from Basel, it is a favourite starting point for journeys further south—for example, to Spain, the South of France, and northern Italy.

Holidaymakers bound for the Balearics can travel on from here to Barcelona, Valencia, or Denia and then catch the ferry to Majorca, Ibiza, or Formentera. The same applies for travellers heading for the ferry to Corsica—from Nice, for example. The motorail terminal in Lörrach is also ideally placed for further travel on to nearby winter sport and hiking areas in the northern and western Alps. The motorail link to Lörrach is likewise a big favourite with motorcyclists who want to head straight for the mountains without having to slog 800 kilometres down the autobahn in all weathers.
