“You can not pass Rostock” – The Urlaubs-Express Basel – Baltic resort Binz makes an additional stop in the Hanseatic city of Rostock.
In the period from July 2nd to August 13th, 2021, the UEX always leaves Basel on Fridays at 20:06, reaches Rostock-Kassebohm at 8:56 and ends finally on Saturdays at 10:39 at Binz on Germany’s largest island of Rügen. Tobias Woitendorf, managing director of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tourism Association, says: “In the current Corona context, this is good news for incoming tourism, which will hopefully start soon and can then pick up speed with the additional stop in the state’s largest city.”
Niko Maedge, Managing Director of Train4you Vertriebs GmbH, added: “We are very pleased to be able to offer a new international connection with our vacation express for Rostock and would like to thank all those involved in supporting this project. The future belongs to the overnight train as a comfortable and climate-friendly travel option, and we are confident that Rostock, with its large catchment area, will benefit from the new UEX connection.”
“You simply can’t pass Rostock by – and certainly not during the Hanse Sail,” enthuses Rostock’s Senator for Infrastructure, Environment and Construction Holger Matthäus, who at the same time points to the good transport connections to the Baltic resorts of Mecklenburg verweist.
Comfortable couchettes and sleeping cars are available to guests in the vacation express. Drinks and hot and cold meals are available on board. A breakfast served at seat is already included in the ticket price. Bicycles can be taken along in the associated transport carriage for an extra fee.
