From Innsbruck to Venice (352 kilometres)
It’s the city of gondolas and it’s the city of love, and admittedly it’s a few kilometres from Innsbruck to the lagoon city. But the journey alone is worth it, as we all know that the journey is the destination. It goes through South Tyrol via Bolzano to Trento and then on a direct route to Venice. The Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Basilica and the Grand Canal are the sights that appear in every travel guide, and rightly so. But that’s not all the city by the sea has to offer. It’s much more about strolling through the narrow streets, finding a hidden trattoria away from the hotspots and lingering in a small café on the other side of Piazza San Marco. Riding the gondola is not forbidden, of course, even if you don’t want to be a classic tourist. It is an experience and is highly recommended.
