ST. ANTON AM ARLBERG
It is a special place and is called “the cradle of alpine skiing”. St. Anton has written so much winter sports history, but time has not stood still here either. The tourism offerings are constantly being developed. St. Anton is one of the most modern and, above all, most beautiful ski areas in Europe. With almost 1,000,000 overnight stays per year, it is undoubtedly a real tourist center in the Alps, but when you stroll through the town, you still feel like you have been transported back to the old, cozy times. Beautiful cafes invite you to enjoy a “Verlängerter”, pubs and bars tap cold Tyrolean beer and the restaurants serve delicious Alpine specialties. Ecological measures and projects ranging from alternative energy generation to sensible waste disposal and exemplary piste maintenance are only part of St. Anton am Arlberg’s environmental commitment. Artificial snow is produced without chemicals, and 33 million kilowatt hours of electricity are produced using hydropower from Lake Kartell, making the resort independent of external power supplies. Last but not least, the good connection to the international railway network is a significant contribution to environmental protection. Photo: Tirol Werbung/Josef Mallaun
